Name your Bushel

By Shirley Robinson

Have you ever gotten off on the wrong road, realized it and then made a U Turn or backtracked until you found the correct road? Many Christians have over the years. I know I have! Religion is not Faith. You can be very religious and have no idea who Jesus is.

I have felt very alone, and the atmosphere felt dark and weird. I was in a battle with those who hurt me and not face to face. Reports of the talk came to me by others and their report produced anger and hurt. The anger and hurt turned to dislike and would have soon become hate. BUT THE WORD.

We have roadmaps to keep us from getting lost on the roads, and if we become lost a map can help us find our way to the right path. The Word of God is our road map. See the scripture below. Jesus said, I am the Light of the World, Jhn_12:46 I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me should not abide in darkness. Jesus was telling them, He was the road map, follow Me I know the way. Jhn_8:12 Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

Some where we got the idea that backbiting, hate and division are little things and the Holy Ghost will still use us and one day we’ll get over it. The problem is, the people around us are in darkness and they are looking for light, truth and an escape! If we do not heed the words of Jesus and walk in love – we are in darkness! What business do teachers, pastors or any Christian have doing ministry while they are under darkness themselves? Mat 5:14 Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid.

Mat 5:15 Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house.

Mat 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Is our light hid under anger, bitterness, hatred, talebearing, backbiting, self righteousness, pride or timidity?

Lets Pursue the Light together – walk in it – and have fellowship with the Lord and each other!

Walking in the Light

1Jn 1:5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.

1Jn 1:6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:

1Jn 1:7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1Jn 1:8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

1Jn 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

1Jn 1:10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
